He is a partner and co-founder of The Marketplace Capabilities Group Inc., a leading sales and marketing consulting firm, specializing in the consumer goods and pharmaceutical industries. His consulting experience spans 15 years and has included client work throughout North America as well as in Europe and the Far East. Prior to consulting Simon worked in marketing positions at Procter and Gamble and Cadbury Beverages. |

David Beatty has been an “adventure” capitalist for the last two decades. He has been active in the developing world, working in Tanzania in the Central Planning Office and, following a stint at McKinsey, in Papua New Guinea where he was economic advisor to the Prime Minister and Director of Planning, helping to create the country's economic infrastructure. He is the former President of Weston Foods, a founding Chair of Orogen Mineral Resources, and serves on several boards, including Bank of Montreal, where he chairs the Risk Review Committee. Other boards that David serves on are; FirstService Corporation, Goldcorp, Husky Injection Molding and Inmet Mining where serves as lead director. He spent a decade as a member of the Board of Directors of Peter Drucker's Foundation in California, and served as Vice Chairman. Currently, David also serves as the Managing Director of the Canadian Coalition for Good Governance. The mission of the Canadian Coalition for Good Governance is to represent Canadian institutional shareholders through the promotion of best corporate governance practices and to align the interests of boards and management with those of the shareholder. David teaches Strategy in large diversified corporations, as well as teaching in the Rotman EMBA program. |

Beatrix came to the Rotman School after six years as a strategy consultant for McKinsey & Company in London, Zurich and Toronto, where she focused on serving international Fortune 500 companies in Europe and North America. She is the Academic Director of Rotman’s One-Year MBA Program for Executives as well as for the Global Executive MBA Program and for MBA Essentials for Managers. As part of the Strategy faculty, Beatrix focuses her teaching on global strategy, and in particular on developing growth strategies for international companies. Beatrix is an elected Board member for the Executive MBA Council, an association representing EMBA programs worldwide. She holds a Ph.D. and master’s degree in Economics, as well as a master’s degree in information science. |

Ramy Elitzur has been teaching at Rotman since 1988. He has been a visiting professor at the Recanati Graduate School of Business Administration, Phone Aviv University, and the Stern School of Business Administration, New York University. He won the Rotman Graduate Business Council teaching excellence award in 1992 and 1994. Ramy's areas of expertise include business valuations, initial public offerings, mergers and acquisitions, and leveraged buyouts, and has published in various top journals in finance, economics and accounting. His current area of research is game theory applied to financial situations, and he holds CPA and CMA designations in the U.S. |

Jim Fisher was founder of The Canada Consulting Group, the country's largest Canadian-owned strategy firm before it merged with the Boston Consulting Group. He joined George Weston Limited in 1986 and served as Executive Vice President of Weston Foods, Chairman and President of William Neilson Limited, and President of George Weston North American Bakeries. Currently, Jim is a Director on the Board of Canadian Tire Corporation. Frank Hayes is President of Stanley Software Finance Inc., a Toronto based financial consulting firm to Canadian hi-tech clients. Stanley Software Finance advises clients across Canada on Financial Structure and Strategy, and assist clients in structuring senior & subordinated debt, venture capital/private equity, and mergers & acquisitions. Prior to Stanley Software Finance, Hayes gained extensive experience in Corporate Finance in various industries including heavy equipment, consumer packaged goods, mining, and manufacturing, including roles as Treasurer of Toromont Industries Inc. and Corporate/Commercial Account Manager at Bank of Montreal. Frank’s teaching experience includes Financial Risk Management and derivative use for the Treasury Management Association of Canada (TMAC), and as a lecturer in Corporate Finance at York University. Frank holds an MBA from the University of Alberta and a BBA from the University of New Brunswick, and is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA, Ontario) and a Fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers (FICB). Walid Hejazi's publications analyze expectations embedded in financial market variables and how such expectations can be used to forecast future movements in GDP, interest rates, and stock prices. His research has also looked at the importance of U.S. financial markets to developments in Canadian markets. Professor Hejazi has also analyzed the impact of globalization on Canada's patterns of trade and foreign direct investment with the world. He has undertaken extensive research on behalf of Industry Canada, the Ford Foundation, the Donner Foundation, the Hong Kong Bank of Canada, and the Institute for International Business at the University of Toronto. |

Doug Hyatt teaches Microeconomics and Macroeconomics in the Rotman EMBA program. His research interests lie primarily in the area of labour economics, particularly wage and employment determination, as well as many aspects of workers' compensation and vocational rehabilitation, including the impact of Workers' Compensation Experience Rating in British Columbia. He also continues his interest in the child care industry and the relationship of employment decisions and child care choices of women. Doug applies the results of his research to legal disputes involving the valuation of economic losses, and to music and publishing copyright tariff matters. |

Joe teaches business & government relations in the EMBA program. A former federal Member of Parliament from 1997 to 2004, he served as Parliamentary Secretary to both the Prime Minister and the President of the Treasury Board. Joe has extensive teaching experience, including international assignments in both Ethiopia and Hungary. He is currently a Senior Consultant with The Capital Hill Group in Ottawa and writes a monthly column about federal politics for The Hill Times newspaper. |

A leading expert in organizational behaviour, Gary Latham consults widely in industry, with such clients as Astra Zeneca, Hong Kong Shangshi Bank, and Manulife. Formerly with the University of Washington, he was named the Secretary of State Professor of Organizational Effectiveness in 1990. He has co-authored several books, and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada; a fellow of both the American and Canadian Psychological Associations; one of three Canadian Fellows of the Academy of Management; and the only Canadian member of the prestigious Society of Organizational Behavior. He is a Past-President of the CPA and was awarded the APA's "Distinguished Contributions to Psychology as a Profession" award in 1998 and “as a Science” in 2002. In 2004, he received the Scholarly Practitioner award from the Academy. |

Alexandra MacKay has been a faculty member in the Finance area of the Rotman School since 1996. She is the Director of Finance Programs in Executive Education and teaches courses in the Rotman MBA program in Options and Futures Markets, Fixed Income Securities, and in both the MBA and Executive MBA in Business Finance. She was named 2002 Rotman Professor of the Year by the 2nd-year MBA class and received the 2000 Nancy Lang and Roger Martin Award for Excellence in Teaching. Her research interests include risk management in deregulated network industries and efficiency of fixed income markets in Canada. |

Roger Martin joined the Rotman School as Dean in September of 1998 after 13 years as a consultant with Monitor Company, where he served as co-head for two years and founded both the firm’s educational arm and Canadian operations. His research interests include Integrative Thinking™, Business Design™, and global competitiveness. The author of The Responsibility Virus and several Harvard Business Review articles, Roger was recently called one of seven "innovation gurus" by BusinessWeek and was also named in a survey of Canadian CEOs as one of the country’s top three most influential business thinkers. In addition to his role at Rotman, Roger is chair of Ontario’s Task force on Competitiveness, Prosperity and Economic Progress. |

Joanne Oxley came to the Rotman School in 2004 from the University of Michigan, where she was nominated for a teaching award for four successive years. She teaches International Management and Strategy, and focuses her research on the organization and performance of international strategic alliances and joint ventures. She is particularly interested in how technology shapes firms’ collaborative strategies, and how international differences in economic and institutional environments affect firm strategy and performance. A prolific researcher, Professor Oxley regularly publishes in leading academic journals and serves on several editorial boards. She is a divisional executive committee member of the Academy of Management, the oldest and largest scholarly management association in the world. |

Rick Powers worked as a corporate lawyer for Smith, Lyons, Torrance, Stevenson and Mayer (now Gowlings) and later served as Corporate Counsel for Honda Canada Inc., before joining The University of Toronto in 1992. He is a director of several not-for-profit organizations and as a sideline, Rick can be heard on the FAN 590 radio station as a correspondent and colour commentator for Canadian and international rugby matches. Rick is currently the Assistant Dean and Executive Director, MBA Programs at The Rotman School of Management. A recipient of numerous teaching awards, Rick’s areas of expertise include corporate governance, ethics, business and corporate law and sports marketing. Rick is an Academic Director of The Directors Education Program and teaches in Rotman’s Executive MBA, MBA, and Executive Education Programs. In the past, he has been extensively involved in both the Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Business Administration programs at The University of Toronto. Glen Whyte is Professor of Organizational Behaviour and Human Resource Management and holder of the CCMF Chair in Integrative Thinking at the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto. He is also a lawyer, and was Associate Dean (2001-2005) and Executive Director of MBA Programs (1995-8) at the Rotman School. Glen was also Simon Reisman Fellow at the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (1998-9), and has an LL.B. from Osgoode, an M.B.A. from Toronto, and M.A., M.Phil., and Ph.D degrees from Yale. Glen is an award-winning researcher and teacher, with expertise in the areas of decision making, negotiation, dispute resolution, consensus building, and risk management. He has extensive consulting experience in these areas in both private and public sectors.
